Subnautica prawn suit and moth in cyclops11/21/2023 ![]() I just picture I'm playing Euro Truck Sim 2 when I'm in it. Cyclops is more of a slow passive transport/mini-base than an attack sub. If you get attacked in a Seamoth, you can quickly eject to defend yourself It's not as easy in the Cyclops. I like it because it can work as tiny mobile base and has ton of resource storage. On, and I do not see a point in its "Stealth" abilites, just ram,ing everything on full speed + shield is more fun/ I dislike the Cyclops because it's slower than the Seamoth, takes forever to eject and there's no scanner room. So unless I`m planning a big base and need to mine a whole lot of resources, I`m not touching that thing:) I just dislike ever moving that thing - with wheel obscuring down view, lacking even basic hollogram like on seaglide to navigate in a somewhat nice manner.Īnd it`s a pain to recharge until you get ion cells/thermo upgrade. It's easy to build a routine to get back to the same point, and frankly, for me, that's probably my favorite part in any case.Originally posted by Slave326667:Have you tried placing a fabricator and some storage in your cyclopse? You can turn it into a full-blown mobile base. Good luck with it, and just realize that after a bit starting over isn't that big of a deal. ![]() But it depends on how much you enjoy using the grappling arms to travel around in the prawn. I liked my way, and had a lot of fun with it. That said, there are plenty of people who drive the cyclops to the end area, and drive it back out. With the thermal reactor module you have power taken care of, so even on hardmode you should be pretty well set. I have plenty of cured reginalds from a breeding alien container. By then I've built a water filtration machine at my main base, and if I'm feeling ambitious, I can build another one at my forward base, powered by a nuclear reactor and a bioreactor (or use any combination you want with power transmitters). Then I take the Prawn the final part of the way with 2 grappling arms and the jet pack to spiderman through the cavern (don't forget to pack the drill arm with you). There's a spot right by an alien research center which you'll eventually find that has no hostiles and a huge skeleton, and an area around a tree cove which is quite pretty, again with no hostiles. I ended up building a base in the safe part of the Lost River. I was nervous like you about the Cyclops. There's no need to bring food or water, because there's plenty on the ship. I like grabbing 4 carryalls, every nutrient block and battery/powercell I can find, plus the posters and the stuffed toy plus ball cap. It takes a little longer, but it's not that big of a deal. I usually slip right through undetected into the aurora with the sea moth, this is the first time I ever had a cyclops built before I went there. I just can't get over this feeling that I am so much more vulnerable to leviathans now in my cyclops(I know that's the point of the updates) and since I'm playing on hardcore it's a very big risk. Ever since the Cyclops can get beatup from sea creatures, how do you feel about it? Late game it's clearly no choice because you must go deep, but in areas where the Sea moth can still go do you generally prefer it, the cyclops or prawn suit? I could build a few torpedos for either but I have no experience with using those. Quick note that I'm not too far into the game yet so my Seamoth does NOT have the defense perimeter upgrade and my Cyclops has no upgrades whatsoever. ![]() The cyclops also has the advantage of a MUCH larger storage, which would prevent me from having to take 2 trips to the aurora(it has loads of cells, batteries, food, etc) Sure I can take more hits, but I would still have to risk going in the water to repair it if a reaper is beating on me. ![]() Whereas the Cyclops clearly is more durable, but I feel like a sitting duck slowly floating out into an area with loads of reapers. The Seamoth will get 2 shotted by a reaper no doubt, but I feel like the Sea moth is far more agile, able to slip into the smaller cracks around aurora and far less likely to be detected. The cyclops seems like the clear winner at first glance, but after thinking about it more I'm not so sure. Either I load the seamoth into the cyclops and take that, or I just go solo with seamoth. Basically I can't decide which ship I want to go with. I have been having weird mixed feeling before I go to the Aurora. ![]() I'm about to visit the aurora and the more dangerous biomes now(blood kelp, mountains, dunes, etc). So in my hardcore file that I started recently, I just got to the point where I have built my seamoth and cyclops. ![]()
